The jovial, musical cow on the roof

Kulturschultüte pupils will discover unusual compositions and have the chance to accompany the Vienna Symphony Orchestra with homemade instruments and their own voices – all in the great hall of the Vienna Musikverein!

A singing, laughing ox? The concert’s title is just as strange as its content: audience members will listen to excerpts from US composer Aaron Copeland’s orchestral suite Appalachian Spring and snippets from Darius Milhaud’s work The Cow on the Roof. The little listeners will be active participants in the performance and the winner of the bet will even get to conduct the concert. The event will end with everyone joining in to sing an american folk song. Teachers will be prepared for the concert in a workshop, and a musician will visit the children in their classroom: singing, music-making and handicrafts are on the agenda!
