Pictures at an Exhibition

In order to enable a shared introduction into the world of classical music AND museums, a special collaboration has been initiated: the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Albertina allow images to resonate in the language of music!

In the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, paintings are portrayed by means of Russian composer Modest Mussorgski’s Pictures at an Exhibition. At the Albertina, children are guided by a professional museum educator through the Monet-Picasso collection with a focus on Russian artists. This should inspire the children to paint music in the classroom themselves.

Marko Simsa, one of the best-known presenters of children’s concerts, takes the audience through the joint concert. The journey through the visual Russian landscape requires the children to participate on stage, as well as from the audience. As usual, teachers are introduced to the subject by Bettina Büttner-Krammer beforehand.
