Primary school children participating in the KULTURSCHULTÜTE are being taken on a magical journey this year!
The Vienna Children’s Theatre with its actors aged six to sixteen, is bringing William Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the stage: four unlucky lovers are at the centre of this humorous confusion. In the course of a summer night, they get lost in the woods and suddenly find themselves in the midst of fairy king Oberon’s magic realm, which is swarming with fairies and spirits. Amongst them is the cheeky elf Puck, who happily makes a mess of everything.
In the autumn of 2017, teachers are introduced to the play and the main features of theatre pedagogy at a coaching workshop lead by Sylvia Rotter and her team. They will also receive age-appropriate teaching materials about the play and its time that can be used in class. Prior to the performance at MuTh at end of June 2018, the children will be visited by members of the Vienna Children’s Theatre. On this occasion, the young artists will demonstrate in features of improvisation and acting in a playful manner.
